wooden plaques

Posted by
Hiro (Kyoto, Japan) on 7 September 2017 in Lifestyle & Culture.

These wooden plaques are called 絵馬 ema.
You often see them in Japanese Shinto Shrines.

Okay..I went into that link and read all about the wooden plaques.
How faith can be seen in various thoughts...we too have people writing their wishes and tying them to a particular pole or tree in some temples !!
This is a beautiful image :)))

Great capture of these wooden plaques which have a bronze appearance to them with their color. Hopefully their prayers and wishes come true!

A lovely illustration of this Shinto tradition. Thanks for the link to additional information. How long do the plaques hang? Who takes them down and what is done with them. (one would think the ones that achieved their wishes/prayers would have some resale value).
