Monet #1

Hiro (Kyoto, Japan) on 22 August 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

Garden Museum Hiei is located on the top of Mount Hiei 比叡山 840m high. You can overlook Kyoto city and Lake Biwa from there. The theme of the garden is "impressionist". The scenery which European 19th Impressionists dreamed is reproduced there. Especially, the waterlily-pond is MUST.

This is an unknown piece of information to me and a strange location to have this kind of garden! If you think of the history of Mt.Hiei, I mean....I like the Monet garden, I saw such a re-construction at Hamanako Hanahaku a few years ago. Had it been left there to grow and develop it would have been a great location to visit....but they destroyed it when the exhibition came to an end!

@Japanalia: Monet garden and 延暦寺 Enryakuji Temple, it's a strange combination.
