The ritual is held in the hottest part of summer every year. More precisely, around the day of the ox, which is named after one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, in late July.
I experienced the ritual last year for the first time, so it was my second time this year. I visited there in daytime last year. But I chose evening time this year. I could feel much different atmosphere from last year.

Lanterns are beautiful when lit up and they give a special air to the red gate tower...It makes me think of Japanese cartoons! Welcoming atmosphere, you step in there like into a dream....
