山鉾巡行 #5

Posted by
Hiro (Kyoto, Japan) on 26 July 2011 in Lifestyle & Culture.

Naginata-Hoko 長刀鉾 is one of the tallest float with the height of 25m. The top of the float is decorated with Naginata 長刀, fauchard or long-handled sword. They say the sword protects people against bad luck or plague. Those two women on the 8th floor of the building must be happy to see the magic sword just before their noses.
Happy ST !

Thank you for the telling of the story! I'm sure the sword works, and all viewers can rest in it's protection. I like the lofty bold lines of the buildings making everything seem tall. Fun capture Hiro!
